Difference between closing and deleting your account

Deactivation: Your account is hidden. Nothing is deleted. Reactivate simply by logging back in. Available indefinitely.

Deletion: Irreversible after a 30-day grace period. All posts, messages, and associations are deleted. Your username is freed after 14 days.

When in doubt, deactivate first and give yourself time to decide.
